Rideouts & events

This year we have rideouts taking place on the first and third Sunday of each month in the 'biking season'. The first of the year is in March, and the last is in October.

The Associates ride out is on the first Sunday of the month and is intended for the less experienced rider while the ride out on the third Sunday is our Senior ride out and is a more demanding event.

If you've not been on one of our ride outs before you must first do an associates ride out before being considered for senior ride outs.

On all of our ride outs your motorcycle must be taxed, insured and have a current MOT (if needed). All our ride outs are considered 'Green Badge' events so you must be a member of both the IAM and NAM.

The only exception to the above is when a rider comes along as a guest. A guest can only join an associates ride out and they can only do this once. The guest must make themselves known to the ride out leader before the start of the ride out.

The start point for the rideouts is the car park of the Seaton Burn services, just off the Seaton Burn roundabout where the A19 meets the A1068 and the A1 (next to the Holiday Inn Hotel)

View the meeting point on our map page

We depart at 10:00am, so aim to arrive at around 09:30-09:45am to allow time for a quick briefing and re-fueling your bike if required.

We can get in excess of 30 bikes on any given rideout. Therefore, in the interests of safety and consideration to other road users, we may split into smaller groups which ride about 5-10 minutes apart (but still rendezvous at the same coffee/fuel/lunch stops).

All monthly rideouts employ the 'Dropoff' System to ensure we don't have any riders go astray.

These are a great opportunity to ride with friends to places you may not have visited in the past or possibly not even been aware of. Even if you have been to the location before, there is a good chance you may go via a route which is new to you which may take you to an, as yet, undiscovered (by you) coffee stop!

As well as rideouts, we also have several other events take place during the year. These can be karting, factory visits, weekend's away and Disco/Dinners etc.

We've kept a record of previous years rideouts on rideouts 2009, rideouts 2010, rideouts 2011, rideouts 2012, rideouts 2013 and rideouts 2014

Senior Ride Out.

A Visit to the National Museum of Flight, East Fortune

This ride out is primarily a visit to the National Museum of Flight at East Fortune, Scotland. You can either take part in the ride out led from Seaton Burn as usual or treat the day as a ride in, making your own way to the Museum and meeting up there for lunch

The route to the museum is direct - taking the A1 north, stopping at Sunnyhills Farmshop, Belford for coffee en route. The museum is 94 miles from Seaton Burn and I estimate that, allowing 30 minutes for coffee, we should arrive no later than 1pm

The return journey is via Preston, Duns, Coldstream and Wooler, ending at Heighleygate Nursery (82 miles)

This is a longish day with fairly direct routes so be prepared. It is a worthwhile day out as the Museum is interesting and enjoyable. Admission is £10, concessions £8 but you do not need to pay the admission charge to use the cafe or picnic tables.

Depending on what everyone wants to do I expect that we will have a minimum of two hours at the Museum before departing for home

Fuel can be bought en route on the A1 or at Wooler on the return

We've put the routes in Garmin and TomTom format on the forum. Aug rideout files
